unable to append to bounce message!

Hello,

Today I got the following error in my logs:

alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping...
alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping...
alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping...
alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping...

This error came many times in quick succession, and then qmail died.

I restarted the qmail, thru
# qmailctl stop
# qmailctl start

but nothing happened. I manually removed the message due to which this
error started. but again, nothing worked. Then, I manually
killed /service/qmail-send/log and /service/qmail-smtpd/log and then
restarted it, by issuing 'svc -d' and 'svc -u' command.

After that it started working.! I want to know what could be the cause, and
how to rectify it, because this is not a permanent solution to it.

I'm using qmail-ldap-1.03-20020801 on RedHat 7.2

Yesterday I got the following error, and qmail was not working:

it started working. But i want to know the cause, or solution to this
problem also.

Ever tried df to see if your partition with the qmail queue is full?
Check also if you have enough free inodes.

Hello,

Sorry! , I'm really sorry to disturb you due to my stupidity.
I tried df a few minutes after sending the mail, and found my partition
full.

Hi,

have you try to empty all the mail in the queue. Stop the qmail
first before you empty the queue folder. I also have this problem b4 coz
using KAV antivirus and now is solved.
